2. Meeting with the DPCDSB fails to allay parents’ fears

The Mississauga News and the Toronto Star had reporters in attendance at the meeting this evening.

This is the story that has already been published by Mississauga News.

Despite having sent questions in to the Superintendent, parents did not receive answers to their questions.  Parents were concerned that they found out about this ‘program’ from the original media reports in the Mississauga News and Toronto Star, and not directly from the school.

The Associate Director who is quoted in the story above went so far as to blame the PTA for the lack of communication to parents.  Yet several PTA members are the only ones to back the school board on this issue.

Update:  This program is in 5 elementary schools in Dufferin Peel!  If you live in Dufferin Peel, I would recommend that you confirm whether or not this program exists in your child’s elementary school.  The school board representatives at the meeting tonight insist that parents in each of those schools are aware of the program in their schools.

More to come…

Update:  Story is now on the Toronto Star web site.
