6. Board reviewing position

The Toronto Star has reported that the DPCDSB has decided to review their position on having Section 23 classrooms in elementary schools.  The DPCDSB are attempting “to determine the best possible solution to benefit all students and the community.”

The overwhleming majority of parents who have expressed objection are starting to be heard.

The petition

The online petition which is open to all who are concerned, from all communities, has collected 124 signatures since Saturday Oct 15 .

The paper petition is open only to parents of St. Vincent de Paul, and has collected over 100 signatures so far.  This will be formally submitted to the school board soon.  It is my understanding that the school has a student population of approximately 220.

Update:  Those who have signed the online petition have received an email from Amrit Mangat’s office,  MPP Mississauga-Brampton South.  In the email, Ian Burns (Ms. Mangat’s Exective Assistant) has committed that the office is “monitoring the situation”.  Thank you Ian.  We appreciate the support.
