The paper petition will be formally presented to the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board on November 10. This petition has only the signatures of the parents of St. Vincent de Paul students. As mentioned previously, due to the pressure from the community the DPCDSB is in the process of performing a review of the Section 23 program currently housed in St. Vincent de Paul elementary.
The DPCDSB has agreed to provide a report in early December. We eagerly anticipate the details of the review and expect that there will be positive results in this report.
Under the guise of privacy concerns, the DPCDSB Section 23 representatives have continued to avoid answering the most basic questions. We expect specific, written answers to the following questions:
- What is the current safety plan for the Section 23 classroom? A written document should be provided.
- As other school boards provide on their web sites, what is the admission criteria of the program at St. Vincent de Paul school? See TDSB for an example
- What is the plan for Section 23 classrooms in DPCDSB elementary schools going forward?
